  • Texas Floods

    Hi everyone

Well, it seemed as though I touched a nerve wishing people a “Happy” Memorial Day, so I took the “Happy” off the post.  Everyone made great comments, and I’ll be more mindful of that going forward, but I certainly don’t appreciate the mean posts on the blog and/or name calling, so I went ahead and deleted those remarks.  This blog has always meant to be an encouraging place – never hurtful or mean.  But I don’t mind constructive criticism, so I will always appreciate those with a point of view and or suggestions.

There’s a lot going on across the South this week with storms and floods over parts of Texas and Louisiana:

Here’s a look at where we could see strong to severe storms (including tornadoes)

Here in the Northeast, a cold front will drop temperatures significantly, bring heavy rain as well as the threat for severe storms later today:

And our first Pacific Hurricane of the season has been christened.  Here’s Amanda:

The good news is this storm is expected to weaken, and not affect any land.

Keep in mind, the Atlantic hurricane begins this weekend…

And it’s beginning to feel a lot like summer over much of the country…

That’s all for now.  Hope you’re all having a great week.

Hey Everyone! We finally cooled off around here. After a few days in the upper 80's with high humidity, we're a cool & rainy 60 today. I'll add to the discussion about flowers. A friend of mine gave me a knockout rose bush last yr after my dad died and it has all kinds of flowers on it now. It's so nice to see roses! Half my McCartney rose bush died but it had gotten so huge that there's still plenty left that should produce lots of flowers. The scent is beautiful on that. Take care, all! Margie

Hi guys! Rainy day in MySouth, but at least we're not having severe storms...just rain. It's much appreciated. My friend, Nikki, in west TX is doing a happy dance thanks to recent rains there. Peonies have come and gone, hydrangeas (my faves) beginning to bloom, and my Asiatic lilies have been gorgeous. Hope all are having a good day. JD, you are gracious as always. Your "regulars" appreciate and love you much. Gwen :)

Hi there Dan. I looked up Sonoma to see where it was located. Is El Cerito anywhere close? I have an old Navy buddy who lives there. Hope all is well with the "Janice Bloggers". It is a balmy 60 right now in Aberdeen and sunny. UPS just came and dropped off a box of plants my wife ordered. A German Iris mixture that I get to squeeze in somewhere. She also has another 14 giant Star Gazer lilies ordered. I'm running out of room to put them. Take care, stay safe..........Sam

Sonoma Dan

Hi JD and all of the regular bloggers! JD, like everything that you do, your first paragraph of this blog is eloquently and succinctly written. Thank you! I'm embarrassed to admit that I wasn't clear on the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day until the postings on the previous blog - some not so nice, some very informational. Another beautiful day in Sonoma County (except for my allergies)! Hope that everyone is doing well and again JD, thank you for being such a class act! Dan
