  • Strong storms, heavy rain and hurricane season starts...

    Good morning everyone!

We’ve got a lot to talk about this Sunday in weather.   Can you believe it’s June 1st?  It feels like just yesterday I was talking about winter…

Today we’ve got the threat for strong to severe storms across the Plains:

Heavy rain will bring the possibility of flooding over the Northern Plains and Midwest with some areas seeing 2-4 inches, so flash flood watches and warnings are in place:

Hurricane season begins today.  Here’s a look at the forecast this year, which is a little below average in activity, but remember it just takes one to make it a horrible season:

One of the reasons we’re expecting lower than average numbers is El Nino is back which is an area of warm water over the equatorial Pacific that changes weather patterns, and can inhibit the formation of strong hurricanes:

June is typically quiet for activity, but we’re watching the Gulf of Mexico later this week for possible development of a system.

    Here’s a look at this year’s names:

So stay tuned, and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Hi everyone: Our Midwest weather is simply beautiful. A little on the warm side (80's), but that's what A/C is made for. Just when my flower beds are looking gorgeous, and the grass is greener than it will be the entire season, weeds have come from everywhere. Please do not send me anymore. These green creatures are getting out of hand, and I need to hire my handyman (grandson) to sweep them away. Lots of sunshine for today. Hope your day will also be filled with it. Audrey

Janice, you are way too happy about announcing the weather pattern that an El Nino can bring. ;-) Let's hope they will be mild storms. The States are getting broke and the Fed's don't have any money at all.

Hey Everyone. I agree with Dan, Sam your post is a riot! It gave me a big laugh! Like Dan said, good will triumph over evil and you will win that battle with those weeds. I wish you well! We've had absolutely beautiful weather this weekend. Lots of sunshine and a high of 82 both days. Lovely! Hope everyone has a great week ahead. Take care, all. Margie

Sonoma Dan

Hi Everybody! A beautiful 75 degrees in Sonoma under sunny skies. Worked outside in the flower beds and on the decks for a bit today. Thinking that I'll have Chinese food delivered for dinner as I'm not motivated to cook tonight. Sam, your post is hysterical! Don't worry - good always triumphs evil. Those weeds don't stand a chance, but still, beware gargantuan tendrils! All the best - Dan

Meanwhile here in the balmy Pacific Northwest, the sun is shining, warm at 60 degrees and no rain in sight for the next 10 days. Garden weeds are lying in wait for me, gargantuan tendrils at the ready, prepared to suck me down into the ravenous maws of the Weedroot People. In other words I'm off to weed the garden and environs. Later, be safe......Sam
