  • Fun at the Stakes!

    Hi everyone!

It was so fun reporting from the Belmont Stakes this weekend, and even though we didn’t get a Triple Crown, the event was exciting.  I couldn’t have planned better weather – sunny, warm with a light breeze.  Here’s a few of the pictures my husband took yesterday.  By the way, it’s our wedding anniversary today.  One of our first dates was at Saratoga in 2003, so being at the race track yesterday was very fitting!

    Have a wonderful day…

Good afternoon. Nice sunny day but not too warm. Seems as you are all horse enthusiasts! My great niece is 13 now and is on an Equestrian Vaulting team. They will travel from Colville WA to Eugene OR for regionals in 10 days and then she is in the Nationals at the end of July. I still don't see how a person can dance and do acrobatics on the back of a trotting horse but she does great. Team is Mountain Wind Vaulters, Region 3. be safe, Sam

JD, A very Happy Anniversary to you and Sean! Thank you for sharing the Belmont pics with us.When is the new Freddie the Frogcaster book coming out? When I first read the title of "Freddie and the Blizzard", I was tired and not focused and thought it said "Freddie and the Buzzard". I thought what a strange combo, a friendly frog meteorologist and a bird of prey who eats dead carcasses! I guess it was a senior moment! The blizzard is indeed a better idea. Later all, JB

Janice I hope you had a fantastic 7th anniversary! Gwen, I have a niece who trains quarter horses. She has her own arena and setup now in Wenatchee. She worked at a stable in Texas for quite a while but got homesick and came back to WA. Janice, don't forget to wish Greta a happy 60th birthday on Wednesday 6/11. Thanks for the ransom effort Dan. Take care all, be safe. See you later in the week. Sam

Happy Anniversary, JD! Hope that you and Sean are doing something fun and special to celebrate. Margie, sorry to hear about your bad weather, but glad that you're safe. Sounds like you're not going to have to water those Knockout Roses for a couple of days! Sam, so good to get your note yesterday that you'd triumphed over the "Weedroot People". When I'd not heard anything, I tried to raise money for your ransom. Margie, A.J., JB, Gwen - all the regulars came back with "Sam who? - not a dime"!

Hey Gwen. I lived across the road from a horse farm growing up. I love horses & occasionally I got one to come over to the fence. Thoroughbreds are beautiful horses. Hey to everyone else. Just had a crazy adventure. It was the first time I had to take cover in my basement because of a tornado warning. No tornado in my neighborhood but we got 1.25" of rain in less than a half hour. Now the streets are flooded. It's always something! Take care, all. Margie

JD, I enjoyed your reports from Belmont even though we didn't get a Triple Crown winner this year. That is a tough challenge to win all 3 of those races. Thus, a Triple Crown winner is quite rare. In my younger years, we owned and rode Quarter Horses and Appaloosas...but I love all horses. Thoroughbreds are such gorgeous animals! Hot and muggy in MySouth. But then again, it's Summer. That's what we expect every year. Hope all are well. Gwen :)
