  • Rare twin tornadoes tear through Nebraska

    Hi everyone

I was on-air last night when we saw live  video of rare twin tornadoes moving through  Northeastern Nebraska.  The town of Pilger was devastated with catastrophic damage, deaths and many injuries  from a super cell thunderstorm that spawned several tornadoes including these two powerful twisters:

It is not unprecedented to see several tornadoes drop and rotate around a parent storm, but to have two mature, violent tornadoes like this so close together for such a long period of time is incredibly rare.

There were close to three dozen tornado reports in yesterday’s outbreak in several states:

Believe it or not, we’re still “below average” when it comes to tornado reports so far this year:

As for today and tomorrow, here’s a look at today’s potential severe risk:

If you live in any of these areas, please keep a close eye on the sky and we’ll watch for the latest warnings from the Fox News Extreme weather center!

Hey folks, it's been quiet on the blog lately. Sam, I feel your pain about weeding. It's a never ending job but things sure look nice after a little weeding. We only had a high of 85 yesterday after a few days in the low to mid 90s. It was less humid too. Today is nice and sunny. It felt nice and comfortable when I came to work this morning. Take care, everyone! Margie

Good evening Margie and Gwen. What is with those 90 degree temps? It is 59 here right now and the high was about 65. Wore a jacket until noon. Replanted a whole row of spuds today and did some weeding. We have picked two big bowls of raspberries since Sunday. We give most of them away to friends of my wife from church. A hairdresser friend clued us in on getting rid of dandelions by putting salt on them. Boy! Fast and no mess and doesn't take a lot of salt. Stay safe, be happy...Sam

Margie, your temps are crazy! We haven't gotten to 94 yet in MS. It has been 90 to 92, but that's it. Of course, our humidity is close to 100%, so our 90 is extremely muggy. Just got back from 3 weeks at Lake Okatibbee. We'll be home for 10 days and then back again for another couple of weeks. Probably not a good idea since the weather is going to be hot and humid. Summer is not my favorite time of year. Y'all take care. Gwen :)

Hey everyone! Those tornadoes were something else. Very scary. We had a couple small tornadoes in the area last week during all that crazy weather we had. They were just over the state line in PA. Today is going to be one of those days. It's only 9:30 a.m. and already we're at 86 degrees. That should not be! Had a high of 94 yesterday so we might beat that today. This weather has been crazy. I hope all are safe wherever you are. Take care, everyone! Margie
