  • Saturday and Sunday severe weather outlook

    Hi all

Thanks for being patient with me this week.  I know there’s been a few days without any new blog entries.  Yesterday our  family went to Atlantic Beach to visit our friends who have a home out there.  It’s only 30 minutes from where we live, but it is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to.  Here’s a couple of pictures from our outing:

It really was like therapy being out there so close to the Ocean.  I could listen to the waves all day long…

In weather news, there’s a lot going on this weekend.  Severe storms will develop across the Midwest, then move into the Ohio Valley.  Damaging winds and hail are the primary concerns, however tornadoes will also be possible.  Here’s the area of concern:

The threat will continue overnight, then redevelop Sunday from the eastern Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

It’s another  hot, humid afternoon across the Plains, with heat indices in the 100-110 degree range.

Some relief is on the way this week as a cooler air mass will begin moves in starting Sunday.  Look at these temperatures!

The hot, dry conditions will persist over the West with dozens of wildfires burning.  Unfortunately, this is the weather pattern over the next week with ongoing fire danger…

Hope you’re all doing well.  I recorded the sound of the waves yesterday, so I think I might have to put it on a loop to listen to it here at work!  :)

Hey Sam! Glad your post appeared! This blog can be frustrating sometimes. It used to be that when you posted, it would show up immediately. We were able to have some great conversations that way. I miss the good ol' days! I hope those fires don't get anywhere near where you live. Take care! Margie

Shaking #1 loose, maybe.

Hi Janice. Where's the beach? all I see is people and cabanas. Warm here now but the morning started out at 52. The big fire in the Methow Valley has topped 400 square miles with 300 homes burned. Backfires are being lit to try to contain some of it. This is larger than the huge Yacolt burn that basically burned from the Cascades to the ocean in 1902. A good story (newspaper) is "Black Pathway Across the Hills" (Seattle Daily Times 9/12/1902). Take care..Sam
