  • Beautiful view of the "Supermoon"

    Hi everyone

Did you see the “Supermoon” last night?  I forgot to take a picture from my backyard, but I found this incredible image from the NASA website.

A perigree full moon or supermoon is seen, Sunday, August 10, 2014, in Washington. A supermoon occurs when the moon’s orbit is closest (perigee) to Earth at the same time it is full. Photo Credit: (NASA/Bill Ingalls)

Happy Monday everyone!   Make it a great day.

Hey Sam, I'm answering your post on the main thread in order to push that Japanese spam further down. There was major flooding in the Baltimore/Washington area yesterday. The parking lots at BWI Airport were under water & there was also major flooding at some of the train stations. Roads were closed all over the place. There were your usually dopey drivers who tried to drive through the floods & they got stuck. Will they ever learn? Hope you didn't get too much rain. Take care, Margie

Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. Just wanted to say hi and cover up that idiot spammer post. It's bad enough getting them in English; now we're getting them in Japanese! I hope all the regular bloggers are having a great day. I've been enjoying my little kitties. They are so adorable! Have a great day, everyone! Margie

Good morning. We are in the middle of a thunder storm that has been going on for several hours. We had one big roller a couple of minutes ago that shook the house. No rain yet but we may end up getting a little. The stargazer lilies in the back yard started opening yesterday. These are the gig ones 5' tall. The other type in the front yard are about done already. Have a good rest of the week, be safe....Sam

I am deeply saddened by the news of Robin Williams' death and apparent suicide. This is not how life is supposed to be....

Hi Everyone! Hope that your week is off to a good start! Margie, I checked your blog and your new kittens are adorable!!! Thanks for posting. Also, liked both photos that you posted of the supermoon! Sam, I'd never heard of dinner plate hibiscus until I purchased this home two years ago. When I had everything landscaped, I asked the crew to leave that plant and some beautiful rose bushes. Honestly, the blooms on the hibiscus are the size of dinner plates. Gorgeous and low maintenance!

My granddaughter pulled me outside last night to look at "the freakin' big moon". I think she was embarrassed when I started howling and my right leg started jumping and scratching. Hot today, got up to 85. Dan, I looked up dinner plate hibiscus to see what they look like. There must be a zillion different types! Some appear to be really low maintenance plants and do well in semi-arid conditions. Interesting. Be safe....Sam

I took a picture of the supermoon that looks almost exactly like this one. For those who've visited my blog, I posted one of my moon pictures there. It had been cloudy earlier in the evening so I'm glad the skies cleared up enough for me to take pictures. It's really cloudy today so the timing was just right. Margie
