  • Thanksgiving forecast and a Hurricane?

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

Hi everyone!  Happy Thanksgiving Eve.  Hope you’re all doing great — I have so much to be Thankful for this year, including all of you that keep on coming back to the blog year after year.  I’m going to be on vacation next week, but back for the rest of December to bring you fun and forecasts on Fox and Friends!

So let’s get to the travel weather:

A storm pushing into the Midwest and great lakes will bring a mix of snow, sleet freezing rain and rain through tomorrow.

Roads could be tricky and delays can be expected for travelers.  Showers and thunderstorms are possible along the associated cold front over the Mississippi Valley.

Several systems moving into the west will keep weather active from the Northwest down into Northern California over the next few days bringing rain and mountain snow.

Here’s a look at your possible travel delays:

And the forecast looks to be mainly cloudy for the Thanksgiving Day parade tomorrow:

And if you can believe it we’re still watching the tropics with Hurricane Otto making a landfall across Nicaragua and Costa Rica tomorrow:

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!  See you a week from Monday!

  • First blast of winter, and travel troubles Midweek

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Good morning everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend.  We certainly had a big blast of cold air and a first snow of the season for many across the Midwest and Northeast!

This storm will linger across the northeast bringing colder temperatures, blustery winds and locally heavy snow mainly east of Lake Ontario and New England.  Across the west, another storm will bring heavy snow to the higher elevations of the Sierra to the Rockies with  locally heavy rain is possible down to southern California.

Midweek, we’ll watch for travel delays over the country’s midsection with rain, thunderstorms, and snow for the Midwest.

Here’s a look at your Thanksgiving Eve forecast:

We’ll keep you posted on possible travel delays this week on Fox and Friends.  Have a great day everyone!

  • First blizzard of the Season is underway!

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

The first significant winter storm of the season is in underway over the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.

As the system strengthens, winds will be strong and gusty bringing blizzard conditions to the Dakotas and Minnesota.

The cold front associated with this storm will move into the Great Lakes and Northeast this weekend with a mix of rain and snow.

The coldest air of the season has arrived behind this system while ahead of the front, warmer than average temperatures make it a mild November day for the eastern third of the country.

Here’s a peak at your travel forecast next week with a new system pushing across the Midwest and Ohio valley that could bring travel delays.

Have a great weekend everyone!  Talk to you Monday

  • First Big Winter storm shaping up!

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Hi All!

ICYMI, I have joined Fox and Friends FULL TIME Monday through Friday which I am so thrilled about.  I absolutely adore Ainsley, Brian and Steve and everyone that works behind the scenes for that amazing show. It is a dream come true.  I hope you will join us every morning for your news of the day, weather and a plenty of fun.

There is also some interesting news on the weather front.  Our first big winter storm of the season is happening right now across the Rockies – eventually moving across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest Thursday-Friday.

Along with snow, strong winds will be problematic tomorrow and Friday.  Winter Storm Watches and Blizzard Watches are posted.

Meanwhile, very dry conditions will continue into next week across the South where 30+ wildfires are burning.

Air quality across the region remains poor due to smoke.  And we’re not expecting much rain in the next five days:

And for now, temperatures remain remarkable warm across the Central U.S so enjoy it while you can, because it appears there are some changes underway!

    Have a great day everyone!
