  • Storms on both coasts bring big impacts

Good morning everyone.  There’s a whole lot going on today, so let’s get to it!

A coastal storm is strengthening right now bringing significant impacts from the Midatlantic to New England through the day:

We had record breaking warmth yesterday in the Northeast, and now temperatures are dropping by 20-30 degrees!

Heavy snow and dangerous travel will impact the major cities along the 1-95 corridor from Philly to New York up into Boston through the day.

Winter storm warnings are posted where 6-10 inches of snow will pile up with some areas receiving more than a foot depending on where the heaviest bands set up.

Blizzard warnings are in effect for parts of long Island and coastal New England where winds will gust upwards of 35 miles per hour for several hours.  Travel will be difficult if not impossible.

Meanwhile, a strong storm off the Pacific will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to the region.

Winter storm warnings and flood watches and warnings are in place down into Central California up into Washington state:

We’ll keep you up to date through the day.  I hope you will tune in to Fox and Friends this morning and Fox and Friends First.  Be safe all!

I live in Oregon but grew up in the Sacramento Valley. One of my Cousins sent me info on the disaster that is looming regarding the Oroville Dam in Northern CA. I remember this dam being building in the 1960's and it is the world's largest earthern dam. I think this is worth reporting on. Thank you Eileen

Hey everyone! Dan, it's good to see you visiting the blog. I'm sorry you're getting so much rain. It seems like there's either not enough or too much sometimes. Have to tell you about the big snow storm they had predicted for overnight. NOAA predicted 3-5 inches. Weather Underground predicted 1-3 inches. And our grand total was--0! I had to scrape a little ice off my windshield but that was it. We had hoped the college would be closed or a delayed opening at least. What a disappointment! Take care, all! Margie
