Forecast and 4th of July Plans?
Hope you’re having a good week so far. Half way to the weekend already…
In weather news, we’ve got a cold front dropping out of Canada that’s going to affect our weather over the Central Plains up through the Great Lakes today. Heavy rain, some hail, strong winds and the possibilty of an isolated tornado could popl up throughout the afternoon.
The east coast looks good today…a chance of storms across the Sunshine State which is pretty routene for them. The west coast of course is our concern again today with more wildfires igniting now in southern California. They had the driest spring there in 114 years, and obviously that is one of the reasons we are seeing hundreds of fires to early in the season. Along the coast, temperatures are cool with the ocean influence, but further inland it’s still hot as heck.
Are you guys off on Friday? I guess most people are. I’m going to be working - but I’m curious as to what you’re up to? I need details on all the fun, excitement and most importantly the FOOD in your future 4th of July Plans!

Fun with the 80’s
Ok - I found a couple of pretty hilarious photos of myself back in the late 80s. I forgot about my huge eyebrows that had never seen a tweaser until my mid 20’s! haha. And look at my CRAZY hair. I was going through cans of hairspray a day!
The first one was taken in California (I love teddy bears, so I had someone take this picture in front of a chocolate shop. I think I was 19???
And the second one was at a picnic at City Hall where I used to work in the summers as a By-Law Dispatch Operator (the gals I used to work with always said that I began my career giving out calls to all of the Officers on the dispatch!! HAHA!)
Ahhh the good old days!
Say goodbye to June!
Hey guys - Happy Monday! (Although it feels like Wednesday to me already since I worked this weekend!
The wildfires are the big story today with 1,400 fires burning across Northern and Central California. The shear number of blazes is staggering to me. There is a chance of thunderstorms for the region again today, but unfortunately we won’t get the moisture that we really need from the storms since a lot of it will evaporate before it hits the ground. The possibility of dry lightning along with the dry brush will not be welcome news for firefighters and residents in the region.
The Northeast and Ohio Valley will be influenced by an upper level trough with the chance for some showers and or thunderstorms throughout the day. A weak cold front also moving across the Eastern Seaboard will also bring the chance for some rain as the front eventually dissipates on Tuesday.
Peter and Don both mentioned Canada Day tomorrow…it’s our version of Independence Day here in the U.S. I always had such fun on Canada day where we would all dress in red and white with our little Maple Leaf Flags and wait for fireworks downtown on Parliament Hill. When I was a Classic Rock D.J. back home in Ottawa I always worked on Canada Day so I could meet and introduce the great Canadian 80’s bands like Glass Tiger, Bryan Adams, April Wine, and Honeymoon Suite…(you might not recognize a lot of these names, but they were my heroes back then! haha!) Speaking of the 80’s…I saw on today’s Fox and Friends that they are asking viewers to send in their photos of what they looked like back then. I think I may have to do some digging on my own. Believe it or not, I had HUGE HUGE curly bleach blonde hair, tons ‘o makeup and every outfit had big huge shoulder pads. (I know - not too hard to believe!)…Ahhhh the good old days. I will make a note to do some searching tonight and see if I can scan a few to post.
Anyhow, that’s it for now. Talk to you soon!

Open Blog weekend!
I’m having fun doing Fox and Friends Weekend today. Boy is that a fast moving show! They do weather inside and out! (literally!) so I’ve been running back and forth from the hot muggy conditions into the freezing cold studio. We had some very impressive talent on the show this morning - The U.S. Army Fife and Drums Corps and the U.S. Army Drill Team. It was an honor to see them in person, and meet some of these extremely talented men and women! (You know how I’m a big fan of a man in uniform! :) They did not disappoint!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I still have relatives in town - we’re going to do a BBQ in Brooklyn this afternoon with my husband’s family. I can’t wait! I’ve been craving hot dogs and hamburgers all week! Yippeeee!
We visited my hubby’s firehouse yesterday, and we took a few pictures, so I will post those soon. I’ll make sure I capture some fun moments in Brooklyn at my Sister-in-Laws today.
Talk to you again soon!
