Update from Tash on Grand Cayman
“We’re all still fine!!! Still have power, though some don’t here. Now a Category 3, but we’re sitting pretty… Satellite pics show it just south of us, so we’re still waiting the eye out, but should narrowly miss it.”
Here’s the latest advisory from NHC:
…Major Hurricane Paloma lashing Grand Cayman with strong winds
and heavy rains…
…Now heading toward Little Cayman and Cayman Brac…

Blizzard, severe weather, and the tropics!
Hi everyone!
A busy day in weatherland - with a pretty potent winter storm cranking across the Northern Plains. Snow totals of over 30 inches have been reported across the Black Hills with much of the Dakotas under blizzard warnings where travel is next to impossible in a lot of areas. On the warm side of this storm, we could see the potential for heavy rain, thunderstorms and a chance of severe weather from parts of the Midwest and across the Mississippi River Valley - especially along the Arklatex. Here’s a peak at all of the watches and warnings underway:

The Pacific Northwest is also seeing more wet weather as another system invades that region. Heavy rain, wind and mountain snow will continue today and tomorrow. Further south, the dry conditions and return of light to moderate Santa Ana winds will enhance the fire danger over Southern California through Friday.
As for Paloma, this tropical storm is expected to become a Hurricane in the next few days as it drifts to the north and east threatening the Cayman Island and Cuba. Here’s the track and computer models courtesy of www.wunderground.com.
Hope everyone is doing ok today! I think a lot of us around here are suffering from Election Hangover!! HAHA!

UReport Pix from our Bloggers!
Hi there!
Well I found quite a few of your pictures to upload, so here they are…Dawn sent us a lovely fall version of her Big Oak tree, Deb Smith sent in Halloween pictures of her daughter and her trick or treaters (and her little Pirate all “pooped out!” ) And Jennifer Johnston sent in adorable pictures of Elizabeth and Kyle! Enjoy everyone!
Weather starts to heat up!
Well, it’s finally over. I think no matter who you voted for, it’s kind of weird waking up with the election being over…however, it is certainly going to be an interesting year ahead in politics. I was moved by both candidates speeches last night, and obviously there were historical leaps and bounds made across this Country with our new President Elect. As someone who was born and raised in Canada, I find it extremely interesting following the U.S. way of governance, and in a lot of ways I think it’s a better system than the Parliamentary one. This truly is a wonderful Country, and I feel very blessed to live and work here.
So, moving on…we do have some weather to discuss! That storm that was in the West yesterday is now pushing into the Central U.S where some changes are in store! Cold air behind this system has prompted winter weather advisories over the Rockies, and blizzard watches and warning over the Dakotas. The central and southern plains will run the risk of severe weather including heavy rain, wind, hail and isolated tornadoes. Here’s a peak at all of the watches and warnings that are up already this morning: http://www.weather.gov/
Meanwhile, the coastal storm off the eastern seaboard will bring rain, wind and rough seas from the Midatlantic up to the Northeast, and the Northwest will deal with another system moving into that region with rain, wind and mountain snow. High pressure building across the Great Basin is going to bring back those offshore winds to Southern California tomorrow and Friday.
And believe it or not, we are still watching the tropics. Just east of Central America, and area of “disturbed weather” could become a tropical depression at any time. A hurricane hunter aircraft should be investigating this system later on today to see if this could be Paloma!
I know a few of you sent some pics in, so I will post those today at some point! Have a great day everyone!

Election Day Weather
A big big day tomorrow for voters across the Nation, and thankfully, we don’t have any major storms to watch or any major temperature swings to hinder those heading to the polls!
There are a few areas that will deal with some unsettled weather, but for the most part much of the country will be dry and unseasonably warm in a lot of areas! The West Coast is the one spot that has been dealing with some wet weather over the last few days, and Election Tuesday will remain wet and breezy from Washington State down into Northern California, and into parts of the Northern and Central Rockies (where snow will fall across the mountains). Southern California should remain dry for the most part, but we can’t rule out a stray shower here either. A few scattered showers will also move into the Northern Plains in the afternoon hours, but again, I don’t expect any regions to be dealing with extreme or severe weather.
There is also a storm forming off the southeast coast that could bring some rain and gusty winds across the eastern Carolinas and Virgina, but the bulk of the storm will remain offshore. Florida will remain dry and warm throughout the day.
Check back here for the very latest election information throughout the day, and tomorrow. I’ll be starting bright and early with Fox and Friends to bring you updated forecast details starting at 5am eastern time, so we’ll keep you covered on all the polling info and weather across the country!
I hope everyone is getting set to head out and vote, and let me know how the weather is where you are today and tomorrow!
